The Central and Eastern European Studies Center is an interdisciplinary platform of scholars of Leiden University. The Center’s mission is to bundle together, strengthen and disseminate existing research into the history, politics, and culture of the region, spanning the new member states of the EU, but also Ukraine, Moldova, the Western Balkans and Russia.
The Center links and builds on the considerable expertise housed in different institutes:
The CEES Center organizes:
- a series of seminars with external and internal speakers
- PhD research seminars and colloquia
- public events
- visits to the Annual Conventions of the World’s Austrian Centres and Institutes
The Center’s activities are supported by the three participating institutes and the Austria Studies foundation.
